Hello,

I am trying to install a piece of software on my Windows XP that used to run
under windows 98 SE no problem, it says "cannot install this VB5 application
on this machine without the latest service pack first being installed". I
have tried the compatibility method and it still will not install. Can
someone help me with this, this program is critical to me and my business.

FYI - WinXP is not an upgrade to Win9x (DOS Based Windows) - therefore
things that worked on Win9x, may/may not work under XP. If you've tried to
install using compatibility mode and it failed, your options are:
1) Install Win98 on another partition and dual boot
2) Get another PC and install Win98

It is possible (based on your description), the programmer of this
application has hard coded which operating systems it could be installed
(i.e. Win95, 98, NT 4.0 Workstation), which means if XP can't fool it, then
you are "outta luck".
