microsoft updates

hello ,
this a.m. , i received notice of 9 updates
for microsoft office 2007 .
one is for power point 2007 which i
have installed and 8 are for microsoft
office 2007 which i don't have .
are these 8 necessary for power point ?

If the updates install properly, then you needed them. If they fail
to install once you've downloaded, then you didn't.

I realize this reads simplistic but I believe it's the truth.

1PW is correct but here is the reason. PPT is one component of Office. You
apparently have a standalone version of PPT but PPT does share core
components with other Office programs and they also need to be updated.

In addition to LV's advise:

If you have the Office Viewer package this can trigger the
need for additional updates.
