Microsoft Outlook- I have 2 icons on the left side of task bar

I have 2 icons on the left side of the task bar - 1 in the middle showing
that is active- 1 at the right end - show & hide icons. Are the 2 on the left
side needed ?
 
Nope, just one if you like starting Outlook via the Quick Launch.
