Microsoft Office 2003 Component GRAPH.EXE Failure

On a specific machine at my place of work, when Microsoft Office Access
attempts to run a report containing a chart/graph, the following error occurs:

-------------------------------
Microsoft Office 2003 component
-------------------------------
Microsoft Office 2003 component has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Error signature

AppName: graph.exe
AppVer: 11.0.6550.0
ModName: graph.exe
ModVer: 11.0.6550.0
Offset: 0002f618
-------------------------------
.... and then the report displays with a blank chart object.

I have already attempted running GRAPH.EXE with the /REGSERVER switch, but
it did no good. I also tried repairing my Office installation via Repair or
Reinstall, but again, it did no good.

I do not have this trouble with charts or graphs in Excel or PowerPoint;
this issue is present only in Access.

Any ideas, beyond completely uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft
Office 2003?

Problem solved. The ATI video driver had compatibility issues with the
Microsoft Office 2003 components. I obtained the latest driver, installed it

I have the same problem. After reading your post, I updated my video driver,
Intel 82865G Graphic Controller, to the highest possible at the Dell site.
But it still didn't work.

The Access 2003 Chart Wizard hangs, but the Chart Wizard doesn't hang on
PowerPoint or Excel. I did the patches, reinstalling, re-registering, but no
luck. I have to stop the graph.exe on the task manager to release the hang.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would recommend obtaining the latest driver from Intel, not from Dell.
Dell does not always carry the most recent drivers; you're lucky in many
cases to get anything more than the legacy drivers. In my case, Dell did not
have the driver that I needed, and I had to get it from ATI.

I downloaded the version from Intel, but they have a lower version. I
installed it anyway. The Chart Wizard still didn't work. I uninstalled my
graphics controller, tried it again, the Chart Wizard still doesn't work.
Then, I just have it re-install the version I got from Dell.

What could it be? Office 2003 is fully patched (SP2). Re-installed
office/graph.exe components many times. Disabled the antivirus, re-register
almost everything. I think it is not related to Access, it is something in
the system that is hanging graph.exe when chart wizard starts.

I don't know...Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Another possibility would be the drivers for your monitor. In my case, when
connecting the computer in question to a DELL 4100MP projector was when the
problem presented itself.

Did that also. I have a ViewSonic VE170b. Did not work. What else could it
be? Thanks.
