Every time that I open a link from within Internet Explorer, the new window
opens smaller than I want and I have to maximize it. How can I set this to
always open in a maximized window?

You can't, but you can manually make the window full-sized (don't use the
maximize button, instead drag the borders until it's full-sized) then close
the window. It should then remember these new settings.
