My boss keeps getting this message when he tries to send his e-mail from
home: Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x8004011D) : 'The server is not available. Contact your administrator if
this condition persists.' He does not have mobile access to the exchange
server and is able to send e-mails to people who are not on the exchange
server normally through outlook. Why does it work sometimes and not others? I
had this problem before here at the office and it seems to have corrected
itself. Ms exchange 2003 and Ms Server 2003 it what we are running.

You say this is from home - but how is he connecting? RPC over HTTP? If
you're using E2003, and he has Outlook 2003 on WinXP SP1 or SP2, that's what
he should be using, I'd say.

If you're saying he has Internet mail and Exchange in his profile on, say, a
laptop - and he brings the laptop home and Exchange doesn't work, that makes
sense unless you've configured his profile such that it can access the
Exchange server over RPC/HTTPS, or he has a VPN connection to your network.
