Microsoft excel troubleshooting

i double-click on a document and will not open unless i open from inside the
program.Microsoft excel does open but the file does not.
When i open it from thr File-->Open File menu , it then works fine
 
Unselect Ignore Other Applications under Tools, Options, General if it's
selected.
