Microsoft Excel Sort Problem

I have always been able to sort columns in micosoft
excel. I select auto format but when I go to the Data
area I cannot sort - the "sort" selection is in gray.
Please help! Thanks!
 
How about: Do you have more than one sheet selected?

(look for [Group] in the title bar.)
