I suppose that you are Troy, who posted his Microsoft
Antispyware problems with media center edition in
security.homeusers, and was directed to post here. If so,
uninstalling Microsoft Antispyware fixed the problem you found -
you weren't forced to reinstall Windows.

You know how it is, sometimes, when you go to fix a thing and
you make another problem while you are fixing the problem that
bothered you? I think some of that got into updated Beta1. What
I found was that the update prevented my oddball DUN dialer from
starting, whereas the original beta1 did not.

Unless you have a ton of spyware, experimenting with Microsoft
Antispyware is unlikely to force you to reinstall your os to fix
the problem that Microsoft Antispyware causes. Using System
Restore to go back to a system checkpoint that had the original
Beta1 (to just before I installed the updated Beta1) got me
reconnected to the internet, for example. I accept the
possibility that I will have to do a clean installation of
Windows, but I don't think that will be necessary.

Microsoft Antispyware is supposed to be released latest this year and beta 2
is expected, just don't know when and will finally offer fixes for common
issues users are presently encountering in the present builds, such as
support for Limitied and multiple account scanning.

I have not read any other reports of problems with MSAS and MCE 2005.
