Microsoft admitted that it too, would offer music without DRM

They didn't "admit" it.

Bill Gates has always said that he'd prefer DRM free offerings of
music/video, but that the market was preventing it.

Now that at least one provider is allowing music to be sold DRM free they
will offer what they can DRM free as well.
 
Still not great, but a step in the right direction. Too bad the RIAA already
turned away a lot of customers. I will not fund an organization that sues
the elderly and elementary school children.... Even if they don't own a
computer. The gustapo stuff has to end. If an artist wants my money, tell me
where to send it. But, it's going to the artist, not the RIAA.
