When ever i open up a report in microsoft access 2003, access freezes for
about 30 seconds and then opens up the report. Switching to and from design
view while the report is loaded has the same result. Opening the same
database on other computers does not produce the same result. It opens almost
immediately. And opening up a different database on my computer and then
opening a report the same thing happens. I have tried uninstalling office
then installing it again, with no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert, and I'm sure one will chime in. But my opinion on
your situation is that perhaps the other machines you are trying it on
are faster? Perhaps your hard drive is getting full thus making the
read/query time longer? Perhaps you need to defragment your files on
your machine? As I said, I'm not an expert, but I would start here and
check these things out.

My machine is faster then the other machine that it works on. My hard drive
is getting full, but reading it off a usb pen drive has the same problem. I
defrag my hard drive once every 2 months, and the last one i did was 3 weeks
ago. i don't think its a problem with my pc's performance.

It's probably looking for the printer you used when you originally
set up the form you're using. The printer that was set as default when
you originally started the report form gets stored "inside" the
report. If that printer was somewhere else (network), or otherwise now
not available, Access thrashes away for the 30 sec you noticed
trying to find it.

At least that was what happened here.

Saving under a new name, with an available printer, fixed it.

That solved the problem! I just changed the default printer from the printer
attached to a networked computer to the "microsoft office document image
writer" and it all runs nicely now. Thanks!
