Micron Pentium III - should I uninstall SP2?

My son has a Micron Millennia GS running XP Professional. He uses it mostly
to play kids' games. I put SP2 on it, and it's been freezing up,
spontaneously rebooting, making odd noises. (My son has also been making
odd noises, mostly "Dad!!...")

As far as I can tell, the hardware is working correctly. There are no
posted patches for his games, or for his BIOS. The last BIOS update was
from 2000, so I'm lucky it even runs XP.

I think I need to uninstall SP2. (Please, other suggestions are welcome!)

I didn't set a restore point before SP2. What's the easiest way of
resetting the machine?

Odd noises can usually be either:

Failing hard drive
Failing fan(s) causing overheating

You can uninstall SP2 from Add/Remove Programs in tne Control Panel. Ensure
the box Show Updates is checked at the top.

Did this start EXACTLY after installing SP2? It might be
the hardware is beginning to croak after usage if you're
suggesting a P3. That would mean that the hardware is 4+
years old and hasn't been replaced at all, which might be
bad. But if you think that SP2 caused it, and you didn't
create a system restore point, then I think there is an
uninstall feature, but I forget what.

Thanks, all.

It's possible that it's hardware-related, but I don't think so. It started
pretty close to the same time. I've run various troubleshooters and looked
at event logs, hardware looks okay.

And it happens mostly during games. My guess is that the games, with the
machine, are just not on SP2's testing radar.
