mHotKey.Exe Error Registry data not found!

B

Bill Armitage

When I switch my Laptop on everything appears to load OK
and my Laptop seems to work well.
However, at the end of the boot sequence I always have
the message displayed in an error box
Error x
------------------------
Registry data not found!
I have run msconfig and, using selective start-up,
discovered that this message is associated with
mHotKey.Exe
The Laptop works as if there is no error (I don't use any
Hot Keys that I know of).
It is disconcerting to have this error displayed every
time I boot my Laptop (especially in front of clients).
Can anyone help me to fix this 'problem'?
Bill

Hi Bill,

Have you looked under the Startup tab in msconfig for an entry that relates
to mHotKey.Exe? If not, have a look there, and if the entry exists, click in
the checkbox beside it to uncheck it, then click on Apply, OK and then
restart your computer.

Hi Patti,
Thanks for responding.
I did do that and when I did it fixed the 'problem' -
that was how I knew that it was mHotKey.Exe that was
causing the Error.
I was wondering if I could retain mHotKey.Exe in Start-Up
by ensuring that the 'data' is properly registered. But
how to do this is the 'problem'.
If not I'll do as you suggest.
Many thanks for your interest and help - I do appreciate
it.
Kind regards,
Bill

You're welcome for the response.

You would have to reinstall the software for the keyboard's hotkeys in order
to replace the data that is currently missing from the registry. If you have
the disks that came with the laptop, the software is probably included on
those disks.....if not, have a look at the laptop manufacturer's website to
see if there is a d/load available for the hotkeys' software.

You're very welcome for the help! I'm glad that a fellow Scot (actually,
although my last name does point to Scottish ancestry, I am a Canadian <g>)
was able to point you in the right direction :)
