$MFT Corrupt - dskchk not working?

Error message shows c:\$MFT file corrupt - run dskchk.
When dskchk is complete I can continue to 'login', but I
still get the message c:\$mft is corrupt. Also, dskchk
now runs everytime I re-start the PC. It's as if it
cannot 'finish' and therefor re-runns each time I reboot.
Defrag indicates that a 'dskchk has been scheduled' and to
run this first!

Any ideas anyone?

Gary, are you using DSKCHK /F on the run line?

I've tried both dskchk /f from the run line, and setting
the dskchk from the 'tools' menu
