Meta tags versus http-equiv meta tags

I originally created my site in FP2002, specifying my meta tags (title,
keyword, description). Why I upgraded to FP2003, when I do a PAGE PROPERTIES,
I have two choices for inputing tags. If I do it under the GENERAL option, it
puts them in as straight meta tags. If I do it under the CUSTOM option, it
puts them in as meta http-equiv tags.

What is the difference between the two. Should I go through all my pages,
strip out all the metta http-equiv and put in straight meta tags?

I see this and they look fine to me:
