Messenger not Connecting

Whenever I endeavour to log on to the messenger service/application, a
message appears stating <Error Code 81000306>.

Any ideas what is up? (I use XPPRO SP2 and MSN Messenger v7.0 Beta).

When I try to initiate Windows Messenger v.4.7 (which is also on the PC), it
connects ...but only for a few seconds --and then logs off.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Try downloading Windows Messenger 5.0 to see if you can connect to that. If
not, then you may want to go with a version of MSN Messenger that is not a
beta version. The beta version may be causing the problem.

Also, if you have a firewall on your PC, try disabling it and then connect
to Windows/MSN Messenger to see if it stays connected that way. If it does,
then you know the firewall is causing the problem, and you'll need to
configure the firewall to allow Windows/MSN Messenger to pass through it.
