messenger logs in and out constantly

I have several user on a network using a Linksys router
and a dsl connection - they constantly log on and off
throughout the day while they are using and logged on
their systems the entire time. Is there a setting I am
overlooking?
 
I'm also experiencing the same problem with my DI-524 D-Link router and
Windows Messenger 4.7.

Any ideas out there?
