Hi, I was using msn messenger 8.0 for since August 2006 and it worked fine.
However since Oct, 2007 when I tried opening/launching messenger, the program
just does not respond; nothing happens when I click on the icon.I tried
several options given by microsoft tech support, but none worked. I have
windows XP SP2. I have tried removing and reinstalling several times & that
hasn't worked. I also tried cleaning my message cache, but no success. Can
anyone please help me to solve this problem!

Greetings,

What you're generally describing is a problem with Messenger and a router on your local
network. Assuming you do have a router, you may
need to either reset it (unplug it and plug back in) and/or upgrading its firmware to the
latest version from the router manufacturer. Then try Messenger again.

Hello Jonathan,
I am not too familiar with the term "router". So could you please tell me
how do I go about doing what you have suggested? I connect to the internet
using Broadband Wireless.

Hi,

Well are you sharing your connection in anyway? I assume you're just plugged into a modem or
card of some kind then? In which case that won't be the issue.
