messenger icon : remove

messenger icon

i keep removing it and afew seconds later it reappears.. how can i get rid
of it?

Greetings Tony,

Where exactly are you trying to remove it? If you mean the icon in the notification
area/system tray, do you have Norton Antivirus installed? Recent versions of Norton
Antivirus added a new "instant messaging scanning" feature, which can conflict with Messenger
and cause it to also keep starting. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the
Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open
Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger
and click OK.

Hi Jonathan

no, no norton antivirus.. a fresh install of xp pro...

i mean the msn messenger icon in the sys tray... it just seems to pop back
after afew secs.. each time i delete it..

weird..
