What does Messenger Plus! install on my computer?

When you install Messenger Plus!, several files are transferred to
your computer. All files placed in C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 2 have
been developed by myself and are all specific to Messenger Plus!. For those
who choose to support me by installing the optional sponsor program, the
setup file is placed in C:\Program Files\C2Media and it's only purpose is to
allow proper uninstallation of the sponsor program if you want to remove it
at some point.

The best proof that Messenger Plus! is not a spyware or another kind
of virus is that no AntiVirus software and no Spy Detection tool will detect
Messenger Plus! as being dangerous in any way. Viruses are listed within
days after their release so, if Messenger Plus! was a virus, it would have
been listed as is a long time ago. The only file not installed in the
Messenger Plus! directory is DbgHelp.dll, installed in your system
directory. This file comes from Microsoft (you can check this by yourself)
and is used by some programs, including Messenger Plus! to do some
operations in Windows. This file has existed for years and chances are that
you already had it before Messenger Plus! was installed. If you have any
doubt, I suggest you to do some search on deja.com with the name of the
file, it will quickly show you that this is a completely safe DLL.

Adware
Adware is advertising-supported software that displays pop-up advertisements
whenever the program is running. The software usually can be downloaded from
the Internet for free, and it is the advertisements that create revenue for
the company. Although seemingly harmless (aside from intrusiveness and
annoyance of pop-up ads), adware can install components onto your computer
that track personal information (including your age, sex, location, buying
preferences, surfing habits, etc.) for marketing purposes.
Most advertising supported software doesn't inform you that it installs
adware on your system. Adware does require initial consent from you, but in
many cases the software will not function without the adware component.
Some Adware can install itself on your computer even though you decline the
offer.

Test Man

You must have a crap version because when I decheck the "install sponsor"
option, I *get this* DON'T get any spyware installed. That's novel, isn't
it!

How about installing the very latest version from his website, after you've
made sure your machine is clean, if you're capable of that?
