messenger errors

While using microsoft explorer a box is constantly
popping up that says "messenger has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I have already gone to Control Panel >
performance and maintenance> admin. tools> services
shortcut>messenger and selected Stop and changed the
startup type to disabled. I have also installed all the
security updates for xp professional. How can I stop
this error pop up? I do not use messenger so I don't
mind deletint it if that is how to fix it.

Greetings Anne,

In the error that apologizes for the inconvenience of Messenger shutting down, click the
"click here" link -- in the next screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msmsgs.exe szAppVer : 4.7.2009.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

Yes, you could just simply disable (you disabled the "Messenger" Service when you disabled
Messenger before, not the actual Messenger application) or uninstall it, but this could be
the result of a bigger problem, so it may be best just to solve the actual problem rather
than trying to work around it.

After "click here" it displays Error Signature appname
MSMGS.exe Appver 4.7.0.209 modname ntdll.dll modver
5.1.2600.1217 offset 00007d85. If I click send report
and then view technical details, the top of that screen
says Exception info code 0xc000000000 Address
0x00000000077f57d85 Windows NT5.1 Build 2600 cpuversion
00000F29 cpu feature code BFEBF9FF

A lot more information follows

Why does it say windows nt? I bought this with xp
professional already installed.

Thanks for your help.
