I am still "in the dark" as to why I cannot Install the Beta Version Messenger.

I have MSN Messenger, and it says to try the new Beta Version, but to no
avail! The message says that I am protected by a Firewall, hence the process
of Setup cannot be completed. I can install it, no problem, but it doesn't
allow me to Set-Up.

I have turned OFF my Windows Firewall, but that did not solve the problem.

If someone could explain to me, in just plain English, please, I would
appreciate your help!!

Thank you so much!!

You don't by any chance run your computer through a router, do you? Many
routers act as firewalls -- if that's the case, try disconnecting it while
you run the setup. Make sure your computer is fully patched before you
disconnect the router.

Hi Linda,
I do not run my Computer through a router, but I thank you so much for
replying.
Perhaps someone else will send me a great solution!!

Preliminary or "Very" early version of a program is referred
to as an "Alpha" release.

When features are complete, but not 100% functional or
completely field tested called "Beta" release.

Nearing completion, or final testing phase called "Release
Candidate X"

When ready for release to manufacturing referred to as "Gold"

All program have Revision numbering, such as 1.00. A minor
update would increment to perhaps 1.01. A major update takes
the highest order field higher - 2.00
