messenger 6.1 wont connect

i was connected to messenger 6.1 then an update came on my screen so i accepted it now it wont connect any ideas what to do
 
Could uninstall then reinstall. I couldn't get MSN Messenger to work with
voice chat & had to install Yahoo Messenger which works all day with no
problems and no configuration.
