messenger 6.0

HELP!
I can't get the new msn messenger 6.0. i have downloaded
it a number of times, and everytime i try to install it a
box comes up saying
"MSN messenger setup failed. Please go to the MSN
messenger Website and download the software from there."
I have done that, but it still says the same thing!

You should be seeing an error code (like 1601 or 1603) -- which are you seeing?

I had a very similar problem the other day. I had recently formatted and
reinstalled XP on my system. In order for me to install MSNM v.6 I had to
download and install windows messenger 4.7.

Pretty strange
