messages reload multiple copies when open mail

When I set up mail initially, all of the messages in my inbox loaded on this
computer, now it reloads them every time I start mail. for example, here
were 100 messages in the in box, the next time i started mail, it reloaded
the 100 messages, and then loaded any new messages.

My mailbox is growing expotentially, and it takes forever for it to load up.
how do I fix this?

I don't quite understand what you are saying. Do you mean you are
getting many duplicate emails? Or you don't know how to move or
delete messages from the Inbox that you no longer want?

If the same messages get downloaded repeatedly, it means there
is a corrupt email on the server. Connect to the server via webmail,
then delete all the oldest messages.

Try going here on Win Mail: Tools->Accounts->Double click on the account in
question->Select the Advanced tab->go down and look at 'Leave a copy of
message on server'. If thats checked off it may be the problem.
