Hi There,

Outlook 2003 - Win XP Pro SP2 - POP3 email only
We have messages getting stuck in the Outbox and the recipient is getting
them like 30 times.
This seems to be happening only with messages with attachments. We have
tried SCNPST and the behavior is still there. We also renamed the pst,
created a new one then imported all items same results.
Antivirus and AntiSpyware report no problems.
Any ideas what to try next?
Thank you,

Bob

Choose Work Offline on the File drop down menu. Then you should be able to
delete the offending message.

Thank you for the responses.
My problem is not deleting them from the Outbox, but preventing them from
getting stuck.
I am trying to figure out why they get stuck.
It is a regular thing on that particular PC.
Again, thank you.

The most common cause is message size and scanning outgoing mail with an
antivirus scanner. Totally pointless. You can also increate your server
timeout value, on the Advanced tab of your account properties.

I will look at that.
The funny thing is that this behavior is new, the PC has been up and working
for a while (18 months or so)
Why do you think the message does get delivered and repeatedly, like I said
anywhere from 10 to 30 times.

Thank you,

Because something is preventing Outlook from realizing the send/receive
cycle is complete.

I don't know why, but I have noticed that beeing in the Outbox folder when
sending messages just won't work. Also, the auto-send feature doesn't work
(even if it's checked) so on this particular PC you'll have to hit F9/Send
and Receive for the email to really be sent.

Once again, as long as the user isn't in the outbox-folder the messages are
sent after a F9 hit.

Disabling email-scanning in Norton Internet Security doesn't seem to help..
