I am running vista 64 bit on a desktop. When I try to receive messages of
about 4 MB size I get the message "NOTE: This message exceeded the maximum
message size and has been truncated. Any attachments may be corrupt". What
is the max messsage size that windows mail will handle and how can I get
messages that are up to 5 MB?

It is a short e-mail with an attachment that has a bunch of graphs etc and
the attachment is 5 MB. When I try to open ths atachment I get a message
that the file is too large and will probably be corrupted and it just doesnt
open

The exact message is "NOTE: This message exceeded the maximum
message size and has been truncated. Any attachments may be corrupt".

The sender was able to post the 4.7 MB file on google docs so I assume that
means that the senders mail server allows this size-does this mean that it
is my ISP thats causing the limit message?

It is an e-mail short message

Are you saying you have a "message" that is 4MB?
That would be some kind of record message if that
is true. A lot of typing!

Or do you mean an email that is 4MB in size?
If the email is 4MB, there is no limit as far as WM
is concerned. Your ISP has limits. You will have
to check with them.

No-I cannot save it to hard drive and then open it-I can save it OK but when
I try opening it I get message that fiole is damaged and cannot be repaired

Perhaps I misunderstand because I am not familiar with Google docs but as
far as I know the ability to post on Google docs is not related to the
ability to send the document as an attachment.

Also note that attachments usually must be encoded so that they do not have
control characters and that makes the data larger.

I am not surprised that you cannot open the attachment that was
truncated by your mail provider.
