I am running vista 64 bit on a desktop. When I try to receive messages of
about 4 MB size I get the message "NOTE: This message exceeded the maximum
message size and has been truncated. Any attachments may be corrupt". What
is the max message size that windows mail will handle and how can I get
messages that are up to 5 MB? or more?

Windows Mail has no maximum message size limit.
Are you sure that error message is internal to Windows Mail rather than
an advisory from the mail server? If in doubt, post the complete error
message.

This is not a Windows message. Its either a message from something else
installed on your machine or else its a message from the mail server. If
its from the mail server, then you need to contact those in charge of the
server. You can try sending yourself an 4 meg file and see if you receive
it. If so, then its likely not your mail server, but the sender's that is
the problem.
