Message Rule for accepted senders ?

What I would like to do is create a list of 30 or so people/businesses whose
e-mail I want to receive, the opposite of Blocked senders. Does such a
feature exit in Outlook Express' Message Rules ", and if so, where is it in
case I missed it ? I have an unwieldy rule compliment but the spammers
always seem to circumvent it; now I'm getting virus-ladem messages which my
antivirus has caught. 2 with virus just this AM, 16 total, only one desired
one. Look familiar ? Bet a LOT of people want this...

when you create your rule using the FROM option, in the window where you enter the name there should be an OPTION button where you can chose to NOT the rule.
enter the names of the ones you want to receive from and then NOT it . then use the rest of the rule to decide to move to deleted items folder for example

Yes, I've used that rule for several years.

Create a new mail rule:
Put a checkmark by 1: Where the From: line contains people
( I'd also use the To: line)
Click the blue underlined 'contains people' in the 3: box
Type in an address and click 'add'
Then click 'options' and put a dot by 'message DOES NOT contain people
below'
You'll need to add each address, if you put your address in the To: line as
well and have the rule read something like 'If the message does not contain
(address I add) in the From: line and does not contain (my address) in the
To: line, delete.

BTW, that should be the only rule needed, and should provide a spam free
mail box.

Now to do some work... I knew there was a way but the darn dialog box has
such small print, I missed it.

You could put a rule up front for each of then (or in groups) saying
'put message in such and such folder; then follow by rules that would
apply to anything else.

But in the context I'd consider an new anti-spam program,
www.spamihilator.com, which among other things has an explicit 'Friends'
(always accept) as well as 'blocked'

But either way, remember that viruses like SoBig spoof the 'from/replay
to' addresses with one picked from the infected machine. So a message
that *appears* to be from a friend may well be virus laden, from a third
party that just happens to have both of you in his book. So don't
regard these sorts of rules as being at all a safeguard

Oh how well I learned the fact that nothing's guaranteed. Right now my
antivirusa is doing its job as I downooad updates before mail downloading.
If I get updates downloaded, I restart the computer even though I'm not
instructed to do so, after I got Blaster due to failure to restart. For
now, I just want to reduce the volume of junk. Will definitely look at your
antispam program.
