message replied to being deleted

I am using Office XP which incorporates Outlook 2002. My Outlook suddenly
started archiving or deleting the emails that I reply to. How do I fix this?

Is it actually deleting them or are you using a view that hides read
messages?

Are you sure they are actually being archived or deleted?
Sounds to me more likely that your View has changed from Messages to Unread
Messages...
