merging multiple html/rtf documents into one word doc

I'm not sure if I'm posting this question in the right group or not...

I need the ability to merge multiple html & rtf documents into 1
document. I have tried using the includetext syntax, but the html
document loses its formatting and I see the HTML tags. I want the
final doument to keep the formatting of the document that's been
merged.

We are using Word 2000.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi, Linda,

Have you tried opening the individual HTML files in Word
first and saving them as Word documents? This will break
their association with an external style sheet and store
the formatting in the document.

Also -- do all of the documents use the same style names?
(That question goes to getting them to take on the
formatting of the one you want.) And, when you say that
you want the final file to take on the formatting of the
document that's been merged -- can you clarify which
document you mean?

If you have tried saving them as Word docs before merging
and that didn't help -- feel free to email an example doc
(as well as a sample of the doc with the formatting you
want retained as the final formatting) and I'll try to
help.
