Merging Cells

Hi
- select your cells
- goto 'format - Cells - Alignement' and check 'merge cells'
 
Thanks Frank,

This only works for me when I go horizontally, but when I
try to merge cells below each other, it only retains the
top left value. Any ideas how to do this one. Your help
is very much appreciated...

if you want to contain the contents you need VBA for this. Otherwise
always the upper left value is contained
