Mergeing information from 2 text fields.

This is likely a very easy task I just have never done it
before.

I have a spread sheet as follows:

c2=First Name
c3=Last Name
c4=Middle Initial

I need c2 to be "first name{space}Middle initial"

I tried that but the only thing that happens is
=C1&" "&C4 Prints in that field, not the data.
