Merged Text cells and pound sign error

Hello,

Thanks for your help. I have been unable to find this
answer anywhere.

My worksheet has a text area for user comments which is
basically several merged cells. If the comments go above
255 characters the cell returns pound signs.

What is interesting is that this is not a consistent
response from excel. I have merged cells that are 278
characters and one over 300. These cells do not give me
the pound sign error.

Any ideas?

Are your cells formatted as Text?

If yes, try changing them to General.
