Merged Cell/Wrap Text

I've set up my work sheet to contain cells that are merged (into a single cell entry) and to allow for wrap text within the cell entry. I thought that this will allow for unlimited character entry and display for the content in the cell. Unfortunately, the entry that overflowed the merged cell (that's displayed) is hidden from view. The only way that I can show all the content of the entry is to manually adjust the cell (row) height. Unfortunately, since the application requires that the Worksheet be protected, the other users of this application cannot manually adjust the cell (row) height. Doesn anyone know how I can overcome this issue? Thanks.
