'Merge' two cells

Is this possible?

In Sheet1 column A, from A5 down, I have 15 minute increments from
08:15 to 17:30. Columns B to AE list 6 people for each day of the
working week. Actually, it's just "R" (reception), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

On Sheet2 I have a list of 20-odd names in column A. B - P will contain
a daily 'In' and 'Out' input table with the corresponding Sheet1
position (R, 1,2 etc)

What I want to do is this:

If I was to click my name in Sheet2, and in the Monday slot give myself
the "R" job, with an 'In' time of 09:00 and 'Out' time of 17:15, and
have the appropriate cells in Sheet1 column B merge?
Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi
not really sure what you mean with 'merge' do you mean the feature 'Format -
cell - Alignment'?

Hi Frank

In my head, it made sense to actually merge the cells, say A:5 to A:15
becoming one combined cell. However, if the format cell alignment is
the easier way of doing what I'm after, then that's great as well.

Hi
no this was what i meant: Though this is possible (but only using VBA) I
would not recommend using merged cells (as they create a lot of problems
afterwards)
