hi,
i have a worksheet with 1 list in sheet 1 and another list in sheet 2.
there r some duplicates amongst the 2 lists.
i am trying to "merge" the 2 lists on a sheet 3 so that it will create a
new list with all items that r UNIQUE.
what is the best way to do this?
the lists are as follows--they span several cells:

sheet 1
column A - column B - column C
Row 1 - 1st name - last name - tel number

sheet 2
column A - column B - column C
Row 1 - 1st name - last name - tel number

thanks!

earl, it is not a multipost.
it is a properly formatted cross-post, per guidelines on such.
i suggest u get up to date on such procedures.

From wikipedia:
"How to cross-post:
1. Put each of the groups to whom you would like to submit the post
on the Newsgroups line (or To line); separate the groups with commas.
2. Select a single group to which you would like the responses to go
and put it on the Followup-to line."

there are many other sources: http://www.imilly.com/noregrets.htm#cross

"Crossposting and multiposting:
If you wish to post the same message to more than one relevant group,
please "crosspost" (i.e. send a single message to more than one group)
but not "multipost" (i.e. send identical but separate messages to more
than one group). And when "crossposting", please set a 'follow-up' to
only one group where subsequent discussion is best suited."

it just came back to me: i believe i can accomplish what i need by
merging the 2 lists into 1, and then using the data|filter|advanced
filter and choosing "unique records" and paste to a different sheet....

Stef,

True. And all well and good. But I think what's more important, since
these groups are part of the same heirarchy and read by pretty much the same
folks, is to keep the volume of posts down. I've seen the volume grow
substantially over the years.
