Hello,
How do I merge a first and last name field into a new field (full
name) in the same table?

Thanks

Robin

The easy answer is ... DON'T!

Use a query to concatenate FirstName and LastName for display in a form or a
report.

It's neither necessary nor appropriate to do so. Just use a Query with a
calculated field like

FullName: [FirstName] & " " & [LastName]

as the basis for any form, report, combo box etc. that needs the full name.

Storing derived data such as this in your table accomplishes
three things: it wastes disk space; it wastes time (almost
any calculation will be MUCH faster than a disk fetch); and
most importantly, it risks data corruption. If one of the
underlying fields is subsequently edited, you will have data
in your table WHICH IS WRONG, and no automatic way to detect
that fact.
