I purchased a new EMachines T5274 vista 32 bit 4 weeks ago. My task
mananger always shows "Memory (MB) total 2038, cached 1730, free 0.
The free is almost always 0, sometimes 2 or 3. Do I need more memory?

Free is a little higher (around 30) when not connected to the internet.

Your system shares memory/RAM with the video card. That said, Windows
will usurp all of your free RAM making it look as if nothing is left.
It is still available for use if needed.

As for adding more... it probably wouldn't be worth the cost. From
ZDNET review (not a good one):

" The eMachines T5274 has only two slots that are already populated,
so to upgrade the memory, you'll have to replace the existing RAM."

Hi,

It's normal. Vista tries to find a use for all available physical memory.
You need more if you see that you are heavily paging, otherwise not.
