Memory utilization by IE7

After installing the security updates last week on my XP node, I.E. 7
utilizes 96-98% of CPU memory when two or more tabs are open for browsing.
As suggested in the newsgroup, scan disk and defragmenter have been run
without any benefit. If only one tab browsing is running then every thing
works fine.

Have others also experienced this problem and what is the solution?

Thanking you in anticipation.

What happens if you use a better browser like Firefox?

Hi Rajiv,

Does this occur if you run IE7 in no-addons mode?

Tools>(All) Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (no Addons)

If not use the Addons Manager to troubleshoot and find the Addon (Toolbar or
Browser Helper) that is causing the problem and leave it disabled or
uninstall it.

The only problem that I know of from the August updates was that the Skype
servers crashed because of the reboot that was required by Windows update.

Regards.

Thanks Rob and Plato for your comments.

I have not tried Firefox.

After running I.E. without add-ons, the memory utilization is the same and
other programmes become slow. On closing I.E., the speed improves.
