I understand that vista uses memory to store needed data for common programs
but when you want to play games with only 1g of memory it doesnt work so well
just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of common program data to
decrease memory usage ie to free up more ram? i have vista ultimate
Thanks

imo if you want to play games on Vista I would add another 1GB stick of
RAM.

I'm running with 2GB and playing C+C 3, Ghost Recon 2, Prey etc are no
problems.

easiest way is to go use MSCONFIG and disable all.
reboot.
if you are using on line gaming, be sure and leave the virus program running.

Vista already does this.
