Memory card seems to fill up way before its capacity

I have a Dell Insperion 1705 with a slot for a memory card. I have a SanDisk
2.0 GB memory card. I'm trying to copy files FROM my hard drive TO this
memory card. Even though it has a capacity of 2.0 GB, I can't copy any files
above 100 MB. When I try it I get an error that it's unable to create the
file or folder. I don't get a specific "Disk Full" error, but get the
message in the prior sentence instead.

I have tried to create a file on that memory card from another program, but
I can't save it. When I delete some files from the memory card, I'm able to
copy files up to 100 MB, and then I get that error.

When I click "properties" in Windows Explorer, it says I have A LOT of
capacity.

Why am I getting this and how can I get around it?

You formatted this card with your camera to use it to take photos or you
formatted this card with your computer?

I don't remember formatting it at all. Could it be that my computer
formatted it, even though when I click properties, it shows a full 2.0 GB of
capacity.

FYI, I use this to copy files from my computer and insert the card into an
electronic photo frame device to display the pictures. I've never actually
put it in a camera.
