memory available?

Hi all,

I am looking for additonal memory for the ASUS P4B533 (no extra letter
behind!).
I've got two Kingston double sided 512 Mb strips on it, but want to
expand it to 2 Gb (or at least 1.5 Gb).

The manual says that :

two double sided (each 1 Gb/512 Mb) can be placed or
one single/double sided in the first slot and and the other two must
have single sided.

So I think to get 1.5 Gb with the latter I can put one of my double
sided 512 Mb in the first slot and 2 strips of 512 Mb single sided in
the other ones.

So far OK, besides that in spite of looking on the internet, I can't
get those PC2100 512 Mb single sided strips anywhere.

Anybody know where to get those? Please mention also the internet
address.

What do you use your system for that you feel the need to go from 2x512MB to
3x512MB? What is the rest of your system?

The Asus P4B533 takes Pentium 4s that run on 133Mhz (x4) FSB, and the
maximum it can take is the P4 3.06Ghz 533FSB. Do you currently have one on
your motherboard? Do you play games? What graphics card do you have?

You can probably find PC 2700 memory that will work.

The rest is not important. I use it for music processing. Some VST
instruments consume a lot of memory.

Whatever you choose to put in, be careful that you stay with the same
manufacturer, if you can. I have two sticks of Crucial 256MB PC2700 in my
Asus A7N8X, and I thought I'd just drop in a 512MB stick from Kingston.
Wrong! System locked up, threw up and almost died on me. Now, I know
Kingston prides itself in being ultra compatible, but I'm sticking with
Crucial (Micron) for an upgrade.
