why would memalloc.sys all of a sudden stop loading?

i get a 7026 error, but the system "seems" to be working
fine.

this is xp pro with latest "patches/updates".

In all fairness, this response violates the spirit of a
Microsoft-sponsored forum. If you don't have anything
