hi
i bought a new laptop about a month ago and everything was fine with it and
then all of a sudden window's media cannot play any files. It says that the
problem is due to a drive for Avrak not being present. i dont know what Avrak
is and i don't even think i need it,i never use it it just came on the
computer already. I can turn my comp on and play music and then i can go
somewhere else and it will not play,odd occasion's the window's media has
completely dissapeared. I can restore back to a checkpoint and then
everything is fine. Is there any way i can get rid of this avrak and just
use wmc? also,why does wmc need the Avrak drive to play file's?

Can you check the spelling for "Avrak"?

Is there a program of this name on your Start Menu or in Add/REmove
programs? Have you run a spyware check?

It is on add/remove programs list as Realtek AC 97 audio. i have run a
spyware check and all is ok

OK it's a "driveR" that's missing. This is the software that sits
between Windows and your audio hardware and is absolutely necessary.

Also WMC (Windows Media Center) and WMP (Windows Media Player) are not
quite the same thing. It may be confusing, but it pays to be very
precise when referring to computer objects!

Oh sorry about that,thanks. Where do i get the driveR from? Once i have
the driveR will i then be able to delete the Realtek,Avrak thing?

I'm not clear whether Avrak is real or your misspelling of Realtek.

The driver is FROM Realtek. Do not delete it.

For better help, supply the EXACT error messages you get and EXACTLY
when they appear.
