Media Player 10 Won't Play all clips

I have XP home using a Dell Inspiron 2650 w/Pentium 4, 256Mb Ram, 20Gb HD.
When I queue up a few clips (more than 2), only everyother one plays
correctly. Either I get nothing at all or I get a frozen image from the
beginning of the clip. The next clip will play fine and I can play all the
clips individually ok. Anyone have any ideas what gives? The clips can be
AVI, WMV, MPG. Same results.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Codecs?

I would think that if the codecs are bad or corrupted, I wouldn't be able
to play clips at all. I can play any of the formats listed on an
individual basis but only every other one when queued up as a group.
Other players don't have this problem on my machine and I don't remember
version 9 doing this. This is frustrating because a lot of news clips
(e.g. from MSNBC.COM) use the windows media player and don't give you an
option to use another one. Thanks for the reply however, it's
appreciated. Anybody else?
