I was just playing around with FrontPage 2002 and made a simple test
page up. It has a simple java script and the Microsoft Media Player.
The player is supposed to be invisible.

I have been informed by several individuals that they can actually
see and manipulate the player, I, however, am not able to do so. Can
someone inform me why some users can view the player, and not others,
and if there is a why to make sure that it is in fact invisible on
all screens?

This is the URL: http://www.seibercom.us/test_page.htm

The code is viewable on site therefore I will not waste space
including it here.

Thanks!

It appears that you have multiple instances of MP installed on the page.
Also, did you copy and paste the script from an example page somewhere??
I ask because all of the " show as &quot in the page.
Example:
standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..."
TYPE="application/x-oleobject" >
<param name="StretchToFit" value="0">
<param name="AutoStart" value="1">

If so, always paste into notepad and then into a page in html or code view.

I'm using IE .6.0 and can see the control panel you're talking about

If you're using javascript to make it invisible, then if people don't have
javscript enabled of course they're going to see it.

How about using bgsound or embed src= if you MUST have background sound.

Perhaps between different browsers the behaviour is different, but using the
'plugin' usually means the thing will be visible (when talking of a plugin such
as media player, quicktime, real player etc) - different from plugins like flash
player.

The player was installed in FP2002 using the standard <insert> <media player> technique. I did nothing special to it or anything like that.
