So I have an AMD biostar m7ncg 400 that I've been using now for 2
years with no problems at all. I was only running 256 mb RAM and
decided to upgrade. Bought this for it from new\egg: (http://
www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145026) CORSAIR
ValueSelect 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory,
and when I tried to install the memory stick, not only did it not
"take" but now no matter what I do, I get no beep, no post...I'm
getting power, cpu and other fans are fine. I even tried to simply put
back in the original RAM in the original configuration -- I'd be happy
just to have a working computer again!! -- and still nothing.

I followed the manual and reset the BIOS manually and even left the
BIOS battery out, both for 15-30 mins., but no difference. What have I
done? It was a perfectly good working pc until I tried to put new RAM
into it...now I can't even use the thing any more!

Suggestions??

Thanks!

You might have physically damaged the motherboard.

Some memory sockets can be surprisingly tight and if the
motherboard isnt adequately supported when the memory is
inserted, you can flex the motherboard enough to damage it.

That stick of memory will only run at 333 when you set the
BIOS correctly ,,because the 400 is for the Front BIOS speed
not the memory speed.

I made same mistake on mine & used it at the lower speed
