MDE files problem

On my old computer I had only Office 2000. There it was possible to create
mde-files. To the newer one I have bought Office XP Developers Toolkit but
could not use it with Office 2000. So I had to buy Office XP as well before
I could install it.

Now I see that the 'create MDE file command' in the Office XP is grayed out
and I cannot create mde-files in this newer version 2002. Would be greatful
for help how to be able to get this command useable.

The default file format for Access 2002 is still the Access 2000 file
format. However, Access 2002 cannot create an MDB to an MDE unless it's in
Access 2002 format. Look under Tools | Convert Database to convert.
