MDE file

I am unable to create an MDE file. This happened after my PC was replaced by
one with more memory and windows upgrade from 2000 Prof. to XP Prof. The BE
resides on network server. The FE was copied over to my C drive in the same
location. All my MS Office programs were updated with latest download
updates. Still I cannot create an MDE file. What could be the cause. I've
already tried a few things such as Compile database. But no luck.

Have you tried converting your database? "Tools">"Database
Utilities">"Convert Database"...

Hi Paul,

No I haven't tried to convert DB. What will this do? Will it convert to a
new file name? Do I convert the FE only? Do current users who are using
MDE's have to log off since they may be writing to BE?

I tried to covert my FE but I get a message it won't allow me to because I
don't have the necessary permissions. Is this because the DB is a secure DB?
I'm the admin for that split/secure DB. How can I covert this type of DB?
